Ash Wednesday

Got ashed today. Okay, I know you can't see them b/c they've already been smudged and are too faint for the camera, but they're there! Quick Confession of a Blogger Chick: When I realized you couldn't see the ashes I briefly (and sickly!) considered re-crossing myself with ashes from my fireplace but then decided that that would be WRONG, and I didn't do it. So, back to Ash Wednesday. It is absolutely my favorite day of the year. It beats my birthday, Christmas, and yes, even Halloween. Here's why: nothing feels better than coming clean with God. I know repentance is a dirty word and nobody wants to be told to do it, but after some quiet time in church, confessing every ugly thing I've said or thought or done, I am truly free, and I can accept the gift that Christ gave to me when he died for my sins. That is a cool feeling.

Loved your comments....it is definitely an amazing (grace) service. I must have gotten your extra ashes last night -- a visiting elderly priest smudged my forehead, nose, cheek and white blouse :)

Nothing beats that! Do you give up something for Lent?

RYC: Thanks for the prayers about my tests. They all turned out great. :)

My Dear Marear,
I agree with everyone that wrote and especially those thousands that did not. I am a part of that group that can resist no longer.
First, your incites into the real sweat equity world are right on target for more that just our tiny little clan of fans. Because they are God given they need given away. I personally would love an entire collection not infected by someone elses thoughts. That's how much I think of your "Proverbs for the Day". Second, From your birth this should have been expected by all of us. I could tell you stories of the two of us sitting on the sofa discussing rather deep things for a puppy and you stayed right there with me. I am totally proud of you, BUT NOT SURPRISED.
I look forward to the next nugget of stuff.
