Check ups!

took the kids in today for their 4 year and 2 year check-ups. couldn't believe my luck that they would see both kids at the SAME APPOINTMENT! after spending an hour in the first waiting room with the kids going bananas, we finally got let back to see the nurse, where i discovered that jack is an old man now, b/c he got his blood pressure, hearing and eyesight checked for the first time. all seemed clear, except he enjoyed raising his hand way too much during the hearing test. naturally, mia was upset that she didn't get to play the same "games" but she recovered. after spending another hour in the little waiting room, the doctor showed and examined the kids. he said they seem really smart, are on course with height and weight, and then he decided to talk to me about "limits." right as he starts this, mia throws a screaming fit on the floor (which i ignore) and he gives me the "obviously you don't set limits with your kids" look. after giving me lots of helpful (ahem) parenting advice, he left and the nurse came in with the SHOTS. she started with mia, who just had one shot in the leg. while she's crying on the floor, the nurse starts in on jack, who for the first time understands what shots are, and he freaks out. he gets 3 shots, bless his heart. now both kids are screaming at the same time and i'm feeling really smart for booking their check-ups in the same appt. thankfully we shoved some suckers in their mouths and that made everything all better. so here are their stats: mia is in the 65th % for weight and height, and jack is in the 90th % for height and 70th % for weight.
